Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 18, 2026

Overview

TallyPals ("we", "our", or "us") is a personal expense splitting app. We take your privacy seriously and collect only the data necessary to provide the service.

Data We Collect

  • Account information: Your name and email address when you create an account (via email/password or Sign in with Apple).
  • Expense data: Groups you create or belong to, expenses you add, split amounts, and settlements you record.
  • Usage data: Activity within the app such as when expenses are added or edited. This is stored to display your activity feed.

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide core app functionality — groups, expenses, balances, and settlements.
  • To send account-related emails such as email verification and password reset links.
  • To display your activity feed and shared group history to other group members.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Third-Party Services

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
  • MailerSend — used to send transactional emails (verification, password reset). Your email address is shared with MailerSend solely for this purpose.
  • Sign in with Apple — if you choose to use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide us with a name and either your real email or a private relay address. We do not receive any other Apple account data.
  • Analytics & crash reporting — We do not use any third-party analytics or crash reporting services. No behavioral or diagnostic data is shared with third parties.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Expense and group data you enter is visible to other members of your groups within the app.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can delete your account directly from the Account tab in the app. For other requests — including data export or correction — contact us at privacy@tallypalsapp.com. Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) may have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Account tab in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your login credentials and personal profile. Your name may remain associated with historical expense records in shared groups as an unlisted placeholder, but it will no longer be linked to your account.

Children's Privacy

TallyPals is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
